dedicated to all widows of India many still live
in complete misery according to Holy books written 2000 years ago

Reflection of the water in her eyes
Of pain, of hopeless love ,of wasted life
The sacred Ganges absorbing everything at once
Washing away the thoughts, taking the last breath

What was her fault to be degraded for such survival
The widow have no rights , no privileges , she is shadow
Confined to the misery of house for such women
The Holly texts proclaiming grief for them till end of days

She tried to find the joy, remembering not her wedding
The child bride decked like a doll , stuffing the face with sweets
Toy in the hands of man who could be her grandfather
Dying promptly, leaving the misery and tears

The lotus flower amidst the filth surrounding
Somehow unblemished by contaminated waters
Blooming , dazzling with the colors while human refuse passing
She tried to escape but failed entering the sacred Ganges
